Eat your own dog food. The best way to step into your customers' shoes is to use your products regularly. For instance, I use Method to power our internal processes from sales and marketing to customer management.

Get out of your own way. Letting go of the reins is a crucial but necessary part of scaling. Don't be the bottleneck at your business.

Cannibalize yourself (before someone else does). Don't shy away from innovating even if the market isn’t there yet. It will come.
